Kindred Vanguard: Youth Initiative through Church

Mission Statement

To empower youth to lead a Christ-centered mission of compassion and justice by supporting victims of war, poverty, and persecution—especially the Afghan community —through fundraising, education, and anti-war advocacy.


Objectives

  • Support Afghan families and children through tangible aid and spiritual community.
  • Advocate for peace and educate others on the consequences of war.
  • Develop young leaders rooted in compassion, justice, and faith.
  • Remain non-partisan and inclusive of diverse faiths and backgrounds.

Core Activities

1. Humanitarian Support

  • Splash Day for Afghan Children – A community event with games, water play, food, and connection.
  • School Supplies Drive – Distribute backpacks, notebooks, and essentials at a church-hosted event.
  • Welcome Kits for Families – Hygiene items, grocery gift cards, bilingual Bibles or prayer books.

2. Fundraising & Donations

  • Author and Sell an Amazon Book – Youth-authored book on Afghan children’s experiences; proceeds go to the cause.
  • GoFundMe Campaign – With compelling storytelling, regular updates, and donor recognition.
  • Merchandise for a Cause – T-shirts, art prints, or handmade crafts by youth and Afghan community members.
  • Community Yard Sale or Church Fair – Proceeds benefit affected families.

3. Education & Advocacy

  • Anti-War Awareness Campaign
    • Host educational sessions in church/youth groups.
    • Collaborate with local schools or libraries for public presentations.
    • Distribute original posters and fact sheets made by youth.
  • History and Peacebuilding Workshops
    • Study causes and consequences of war.
    • Include biblical perspectives on peace and reconciliation.
    • Invite speakers: veterans, refugees, historians.
  • Peace Ambassador Program
    • Train youth as peer leaders and speakers.

Promotions & Media Outreach

    • Collaborate with community access channels or university media.
  • Social Media Campaign
    • Use platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.

  • Church and Temple Networks
    • Ask partner congregations to share promotional content.

Sponsorships & Partnerships

  • Faith Communities – Local churches, mosques, temples for broader spiritual solidarity.
  • Medical/Wellness Institutions – Like MD Anderson or mental health orgs.
  • Nonprofits Serving Refugees – e.g., Interfaith Ministries.
  • Local Businesses – Coffee shops, bookstores, and restaurants may sponsor or host events.

Organizational Structure

  • Youth Leadership Team – Chair, Media Lead, Outreach Coordinator, Fundraising Lead.
  • Adult Advisors – Church elders, counselors, Afghan community reps.
  • Monthly Planning Meetings – With prayer, updates, and planning sessions.

Long-Term Vision
